Test Requests

If a doctor requests a blood test as part of your care we will sent you a text message asking you to collect the form from Reception. Please collect this and arrange the blood test as soon as possible as these tests are important for us to safely prescribe your medication or investigate an illness.

If you bring in a urine / stool / sputum / nail sample you must drop this off before 12:30 as the driver collects all samples at 13:00 to take them to the laboratory. Many samples cannot be kept overnight in the fridge. Failure to meet this deadline will result in us asking you for a further sample.

Test Results

When you attend for a test of any kind you will be told how long you should expect to wait for the results. Please bear this in mind and call the surgery after 14:00 once sufficient time has elapsed.

Our reception staff are not qualified to comment on results therefore it is your responsibility to check them and make any necessary follow-up appointment with the doctor.

Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.
